Mrs. E. C. Fleming Dies on May 22 at Age of 62
Dora Fleming was born in Jasper county, Iowa, of Eva and August Rojohn on Dec. 2, 1881, and departed this life on May 22, 1944 at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 20 days.
On July 30, 1899, she was united in marriage to Edward C. Fleming. To this union were born ten children, three of whom preceded her in death. They were Forrest, Leona and Bernice.
Her entire life was spent in this and the nearby community of Vandalia. She was a member of the Runnells Christian church.
To those who knew her best, words seem so futile to attempt an expression of the love and kindness that filled her heart and soul, which found its outlet in doing good deeds and helping others as she went along life’s highway. She was always cheerful and uncomplaining and wore a smile for those to whom a smile meant brightening of the passing moment.
Left to mourn her passing besides the husband are seven children: Everett of Carlisle, Mrs. Ina Lyon of Duluth, Minn., Frank of Alma, Nebr., Mrs. Annabelle Miller of Minneapolis, Minn., Herbert of Des Moines, and Russell and Lester in the service of their country. Also a brother Fred of Vandalia, two sisters, Mrs. Eva Murphy of Swan and Mrs. Anna Brewer of Foley, Minn., and one half-sister, Mrs. Augusta Meyers of Des Moines; twelve grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and a myriad of friends.
