Orr Smith, 88, Dies Wednesday; Services Friday
Prairie City – Orr Smith, 88, of Prairie City died Wednesday at the Clear View Manor in Prairie City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
The Rev. B. D. Hinegardner, pastor of the Morgan Valley Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Survivors are nephews, Hubert Smith and Basil Smith, both of Des Moines, Melvin Smith of Altoona and Dick Charls and Cecil Charls, both of Prairie City; and a niece, Eileen Taylor of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Mr. Smith, a member of the Morgan Valley Christian Church, south of Prairie City, and the Prairie City American Legion.
Mr. Smith, a farmer, was an Army veteran of World War I.
The son of William Perry and Elzora McCoy Smith, he was born Aug. 26, 1894 in Percy.
