Rosemary J. Shutts, 94, died Friday, October 22, 2021 in Sun Lakes, Arizona. She was born in Newton, Iowa on December 19, 1926 to Marie and Harry Upton. She graduated from Newton High School with the class of 1944 where she was very active in musical circles. She married Kenneth Shutts, " the love of her life” on September 19, 1946 at Sacred Heart Church in Newton. Ken died September 4, 2018, just 15 days before their 72nd wedding anniversary.
Rosemary went to work as a secretary at Jasper County Bank in Newton and retired as an officer. She and Ken enjoyed their retirement in Arizona playing golf and bridge and they loved to travel going on numerous cruises. Rosemary was a wonderful hostess and loved entertaining and cooking for their guests.
Through the years she sang at many weddings and funerals and after moving to Arizona she sang solo at 4:00 p.m. mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mesa for 15 years.
She will be greatly missed by several nieces and nephews as well as many friends including special friends Les and Maggie Klingberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Tom.
There will be a funeral mass at St. Steven’s Catholic Church in Sun Lakes, Arizona on November 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m.
