Last Rites Held for C. E. Brunner Thursday; Feb. 8
Funeral services for Charles E. Brunner were conducted at the Travis Walters Funeral Home here last Thursday February 8. Mr. Brunner passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on Feb. 5. Born in Jasper County, he lived all of his life in this area.
Officiating clergyman was Rev. Charles E. Palmer. Organ selections played were “Old Rugged Cross” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.”
Bearers were John De Wit, Russell Hayes, Joe Osburn, Dale Messmaker, Everett Shutt and Clarence Walter. Interment was made in the Vandalia cemetery.
Obituary
Charles Edgar Brunner was born in Jasper County, IA, on January 4, 1876, and passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City on February 5, 1951. Mr. Brunner had been bedfast since December 10 at the home of his son Loren. Most of his life had been spent in mining and farming. On December 26, 1901, he married Miss Lottie Johnston, who passed away on May 30, 1949.
Mr. Brunner was the son of Adam and Eliza Brunner. One brother, Val, of Prairie City, and one sister, Margaret Price of Des Moines, are left to mourn his passing. One brother, Frank, preceded him in death.
Mr. Brunner also leaves one son, Loren, of Colfax and a niece, Marianna Johnston Marker. In addition to these immediate relatives he leaves to mourn his passing many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of friends.
