John Henry Furnoy Dies at 73 Years
John Henry Furnoy, son of James and Kathryn Furnoy, was born on May 30, 1863, in White County, Ind., and departed this life at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 13 days, on Jan. 13, 1937.
Mr. Furnoy, better known around Vandalia as Uncle John, came with his parents to Iowa when a small boy and settled near Vandalia, where he has been the rest of his life. For several years he has been failing in health, and for the past few months helpless. A brother, Joe Furnoy was in charge of him his last few years.
Mr. Furnoy was always content, living a single life, honest energetic, one who attended strictly to his own business, peculiarly inclined insomuch that it made him dear to many friends. While his sisters, Mrs. F. E. Cooper, Mrs. Ella Smith, Mrs. Dorcia Draper, and Mrs. Frank Murray preceded him in death, he has one brother Joe living near Vandalia and a brother Jim in California who survive, also many nephews and nieces.
Services were held at the church in Vandalia at 2:00 p.m. conducted by Earl Warren of Ivy and burial was at Vandalia.
