Mrs. Arthur Stover Rites Held Today
Funeral services for Mrs. Arthur (Ellen Lea) Stover, 80, a resident of Monroe for the past 20 years, were held this afternoon at Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home in Newton.
The Rev. Arthur V. Long, minister of the First Methodist Church in Newton, conducted the services. Burial was in Newton Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Lois Stanton, the organist, accompanied the soloist, Marion Welle.
Pallbearers were Fred Aalbers, Ray Munger, Edward Beyer, Arthur Wallace, Oakley Brodersen and Ivan Brodersen.
Mrs. Stover, who died Saturday at Skiff Memorial Hospital, is survived by five sons, David of Minneapolis, Minn., Jack of Newton, Harry of Prairie City, and Jim and Delbert, both of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs Edith Schumann of Newton and Helen Miller of Kellogg; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Fred, and two daughters, Ethel and Dorothy.
Mrs. Stover was a member of the Monroe Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Woman’s Relief Corps and the Martha and Mary Sunday School class.
The daughter of James and Anna Lea, she was born Oct 23, 1882 in Des Moines.
She was married to Arthur Stover Aug 10. 1901, residing in and around Newton before moving to Monroe 20 years ago.
