Frank W. Evans, 80, of Colfax, a former member of the Colfax Community Schools Board of Education and a former longtime Poweshiek Township clerk, died Sunday. March 27 at the Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Memorial services will beheld 11 a.m. Thursday at Colfax United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Cremation has been held and burial will be Friday at McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.

Mr Evans is survived by his wife, Alice, a daughter Lynda (Mrs Vincent) Bongatti of Campbell, Calif.; a son and daughter-in-law,Rick and Robin of Watertown, S.D.; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Royal, and a sister, Barbara Krebs.

The son of Richard and Agnes Blomquest Evans he was born May 9, 1913 in Colfax.

Mr Evans, a 1930 graduate of Colfax Community High School, was married to Alice Brown March 7, 1936 in Des Moines.

He was a farmer and substitute rural letter carrier
