Mrs. Olga Ann Hodgson Died In Des Moines
Funeral Services Held Sunday From Bumgardner Funeral Home
Mrs. Olga Ann Hodgson, 70, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mabel Bolio in Des Moines May 26th, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hodgson had been a resident of the Colfax community the most of her life and the family is well known.
Olga Anna Schondek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schondek, was born Dec 10, 1879 in Germany and passed away May 26th, 1950 at the age of 70 years, 5 months and 16 days.
At the age of nine years she moved with her parents to a farm north of Colfax where she grew to womanhood.
She was married to Dolph Hodgson April 6, 1898. To this union ten children were born, four children and the husband preceding her in death. The husband died in 1939, Ethel in infancy, Adolph age 3, Leslie 14 and Mrs. Bertha Hutson died in 1942.
In 1910 the family moved to Colfax where they have since resided. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Hodgson lived with her son Edd. In 1944 she went to California and spent three years with her daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Koon and Mrs. Myrtle Hadsall, returning to Colfax again to live with her son. About a year and a half ago she went to Des Moines to live with her daughters Mrs. Bolio and Mrs. Harthorn.
She was a member of the Colfax Howard Street Church of Christ, uniting with it in 1911, soon after moving to Colfax.
She is survived by five daughters and one son, Mrs. Nina Haning and Edd Hodgson of Colfax; Mrs. Mabel Bolio and Elsie Harthorn of Des Moines, Mrs. Myrtle Hadsall and Mrs. Evelyn Keen of California, 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Bumgardner Funeral Home in Colfax Sunday afternoon with the Rev. W. E. Goughnour officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mrs. George Rinker with Jean Binkerd accompanist.
Pall bearers were grandchildren, Robert and Ted Haning, Des Moines, Ed. James and Richard Haning of Colfax, Jack Bolio, Des Moines and Eddie Hodgson, Colfax.
Flower committee – Mrs. Claude Stevens and Mrs. R. G. Conn.
Burial was in the McKeever cemetery.
