Mrs. Keith Cogley Died Jan. 11th
Mrs. Keith (Caroleen Lou) Cogley, 36, of rural Colfax, died Monday, Jan. 1, 1971, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines where she had been hospitalized the past four months. She had been a resident of the Colfax community since 1960.
The daughter of Carl and Catherine McGimpsey Shifflet, she was born April 29, 1934, at Deep River, Iowa. She graduated from the Deep River High School in 1951 and attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines and the State University of Iowa at Iowa City.
She was married to Dr. Keith C. Cogley on Sept. 6, 1959, at Deep River.
Mrs. Cogley was a member of the First Lutheran Church at Newton.
Surviving are her husband; four sons, Shawn Daniel, Patrick James, Brian Keith and Colin John; four daughters, Kelly Jo, Megan Nichole, Brenda Catherine and Marna Caroleen; her mother, Mrs. Catherine Shifflet of Deep River; and a sister, Mrs. Kathleen Wright of Montezuma.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 13th at 2 p.m. in Walters Funeral Home at Colfax.
The Rev. H. Eugene Cedarholm, pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Newton, conducted the services.
Edward J. Gannon Jr. was the soloist and Mrs. Frank B. Evans was the organist.
The bearers were Alvin Bryan, Dale Mason, Claire Mithelman, LaVerne Kern, Don Danskin and James Copeland.
Honorary bearers were: John Lang and Harold Hopkinson.
Serving on the flower committee were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Meckley and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Russell.
Burial was in the McKeever Cemetery.
Memorial contributions to the First Lutheran Church in Newton will be accepted.
