Chris Stillings Dies at Stillwater, Minnesota
Chris Stillings, a former Colfax man passed away at Stillwater, Minn. of typhoid fever. His death was very unexpected to relatives here, who were not aware of his illness.
Chris C. Stillings, youngest son of Wm. and Mary Stillings, was born in London, Kentucky, May 29, 1887 and passed away at Stillwater, Minn., July 25?, 1929 at the age of 42 years, 1 month and 26 days.
He was united in marriage to Katheryn Gibson on the 24th day of April, 1909. To this union was born seven children, four boys and three girls, all surviving.
He was employed as a ground man for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. He came to Jasper County with his parents at the age of three years. He attended the Colfax Public school, and lived here until about eleven years ago when he moved with his family to Adel, Iowa and from there to Tomahawk, Wisconsin, where his family still resides.
Besides his wife and family, he leaves one sister, Mrs. Will Garrett of Colfax, Iowa; two brothers, Pete Stillings of Reno, Nevada and John Stillings of Tracey, Minnesota; a number of nieces and nephews, besides a host of friends.
He was an upright citizen, a good neighbor and a friend to all who knew him.
His wife was with him in his last hours, but was unable to attend the funeral. Services were held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock from the Church of Christ with Rev. Earl B. Clark officiating.
He was laid to rest in McKeever Cemetery Sunday

Chris Stillings Succumbs
Mrs. Will Garret received a telegram Wednesday afternoon stating her brother, Chris Stillings, had passed away at Stillwater, Minnesota. He was a ground man for the Electric Company but no particulars were given as to the cause of his death.

Ira and Goddard News – Several from near Goddard attended the funeral of Chris Stillings at Colfax Sunday afternoon. Chris grew to young manhood near the Sand Hill school and had many friends who were saddened at his untimely death.
He was married to Katie Gibson formerly of Ira 20 years ago. They had been living for a number of years in Wisconsin. He had been an employee of the telephone company for three years and was working for them at Stillwell, Minn. when death came. He was sick but a few days with typhoid fever.
He leaves besides his wife seven children, 2 brothers and a sister.
