Her age at passing was 76 years, 6 months and 14 days.
She was one of a family of eleven children, six of whom with the parents have preceded her in death.
Her girlhood days were spent in the vicinity of Pella and Otley.
On March 23rd, 1880 she was united in marriage to William Elrod at Monroe, Iowa. For 56 years and three days they traveled life’s way together. To this union were born five children, the eldest, LeRoy, dying at the age of fourteen.
Surviving are the husband, two sons, Carl Martin and William Cyrus of Prairie City; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd Jarnagin of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. Ernest Wagner of Monroe; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. E. She was converted in her youth and united with the Methodist church at Monroe. Many years of her active Christian life were spent in the Pleasant Hill Methodist church. Later her membership was transferred to Prairie City where it remained until her death.
She was an earnest devoted Christian, a loving wife, and an ideal mother, training her children by precept and example to follow in the footsteps of their Redeemer. Her highest motive in life and her greatest desire was to so live that she would be ready when the call came to meet her Saviour and live with Him forever.
