Mary Cinthena Chaplin, daughter of Perry and Evaline Chaplin, was born August 23rd 1877, in Marion county, and departed from this life December 13, 1952, at Skiff Memorial hospital at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 20 days.
On September 20th, 1894, she was married to William Sherman Brown. To this union were born four children, Mrs. Etha Ford of Newton, McKinley of Prairie City, Perry of Knoxville and Doyle who lived at Newton until his death June 2, 1950. She was also preceded in death by her husband who died December 25, 1945.
She is survived by her three children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One grandson, Cpl. Lloyd L. Brown is serving in the Army.
She was a member of the Monroe Baptist church but was unable to attend for some time because of ill health. She will be greatly missed by relatives and friends.
Services were conducted in the First Baptist church by the Rev. Donald Brong and internment was made in Griffis cemetery.
