Prairie City – Funeral services for Dick Van Zee, 88, of Prairie City, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.
The Rev. D. Joel Brummel, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Prairie City after noon Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials to the First Reformed Church will be accepted.
He died Monday at his home in Prairie City.
Survivors are his wife, Jessie; a son, Meredith of Prairie City; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine (Mrs. David) Boot of Prairie City and Wilma (Mrs. Roy) Buitenwerf of Prairie City; and three brothers, William of Mitchellville and Harry and Marion, both of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers.
Mr. Van Zee was a member of the First Reformed Church and a charter member of the Prairie City Lions Club.
A farmer, Mr. Van Zee had been a representative for Pioneer Seeds for 20 years.
The son of Govert and Bertha Bentima Van Zee, he was born Nov. 5, 1902 in Pella.
He was married to Jessie Vander Berg march 1, 1930 in Prairie City.
