Prairie City – Funeral services for David Jabaai, 80, a lifelong resident of Prairie City, were held today, Dec. 16, at the Prairie City First Reformed Church. The Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.
Memorials to the church may be left at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City.
He died Saturday at Clearview Manor in Prairie City.
Survivors are a son, Laurence of Fishers, Ind.; a daughter, Beverly (Mrs. Junior) Kool of Naperville, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister, Bessie Van Dusseldorp of Prairie City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gertrude, in June, two grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Jabaai was a member of the Prairie City First Reformed Church.
He served on the Prairie City ambulance crew for many years.
A retired Maytag Co. employee, he also farmed.
The son of Leonard A. and Tillie De Jong Jabaai, he was born Feb. 6, 1911 in Prairie City.
He was married to Gertrude De Vries Aug. 15, 1935 in Prairie City.
