Sully – Mary C. Van Wyk, 52, f Sully, a former Sully, Newton and Pella Christian Grade School teacher, died Saturday evening, Nov. 10, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.
Dr. Joseph I. Brinks, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.
Family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.
Memorials to the Pella or Sully Christian Grade Schools may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are her husband, Darrell; three sons, Douglas J. and Curtis D., both of Sully, and Russell L. of Pella; a daughter, Carol S. (Mrs. Bill) Spronk of Sioux Falls, S.D.; 10 grandchildren; her parents, Lambert and Wilma Bouma of Hull; a brother, Owen Bouma of Highland, Ind.; and a sister, Lois (Mrs. Verlyn) Westra of Sioux Center.
Mrs. Van Wyk was a member of the Sully Christian Reformed Church, a member of the Faith Society, a Calvinette leader and a Sunday school teacher.
The daughter of Lambert and Wilma Dykstra Bouma, she was born April 8, 1938 in Hull and was a 1956 graduate of Western Christian High School at Hull.
She attended Dordt College at Sioux Center for a year and taught for a year at Sully Christian Grade School after moving to Sully.
She was married to Darrell D. Van Wyk May 29, 1957 at Hull and the couple farmed in the Grinnell area before moving to the Sully area.
Mrs. Van Wyk taught for six years in the Newton Christian Grade School and most recently in the Pella Christian Grade School.
She was a graduate of Central College in Pella.
