Sully – John Zuidema, 81, a lifelong resident of Sully, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Sully First Reformed Church.
The Rev. Daniel Hakken, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Ralph Menning will conduct services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home in Pella from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Carolina; a son, Henry of Sully; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, William of Sully, a sister, Hermina Severson of Aurora, Ill., and a step-sister, Mrs. Ellis Vonk.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Francina, in infancy and three step-sisters, Margaret Rosendaal, Jennie Lanser and Nellie Talsma.
Mr. Zuidema, who farmed in the Sully area most of his life, was a member of the Sully First Reformed Church and the Farm Bureau.
The son of Henry and Syke Zuidema, he was born May 3, 1910 in Sully and grew up in the Sully area.
He was married to Carolina Walraven Feb. 14, 1934 in Pella.
