Pella – Delbert Lee De Penning, 47, a resident of Pella since 1981 and former resident of Jasper County, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Pella Community Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Reformed Church in Pella.
The Rev. Donald Plantings, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Ralph Menninga, retired, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Pella Garden Chapel all day today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials to the Trinity Reformed Church will be accepted.
Survivors are his father and step-mother, Paul and Evalena De Penning; three brother, Jerry of Marion and Dale and Donovan, both of Sully; two sisters, Barbara De Penning of Pella and Paula (Mrs. Alan) Driscoll of Broomfield, Colo.; two step-brothers; and four step-sister.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude, Aug. 26, 1985.
Mr. De Penning, a member of the Trinity Reformed Church of Pella, was an employee in the adult workshop at the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella.
The son of Paul and Gertrude Van Dyke De Penning, he was born April 30, 1944 near Searsboro and he and his family moved south of Sully in 1948. He attended Jasper County rural schools and Lynnville-Sully Community High School.
