Dorothy Bruce Hoft Speak, 79, of 510 E. 11th St. S., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 10, at the Skiff Medical Center of cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society will be accepted.
Survivors are a son, Rod Hoft of Newton; a daughter, Carolyn “Sue” (Mrs. Herb) Horn, of Newton; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Laura Wells of Norwalk, Calif., and Margaret Murray of Newbury Park, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Hugh Hoft in 1962, her second husband Keith Speak, in 1986, and a brother, Hubert Bruce.
Mrs. Speak was a homemaker.
The daughter of Andrew P. and Louise Waggoner Bruce, she was born Feb. 3, 1912 in Jasper County.
