Funeral services for Lucille G. Herbold, 70, 512 S. 5th Ave. E. a resident of rural Colfax for 35 years prior to moving to Newton in 1978, were held this morning, Nov. 18, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The Rev. E. William Kaska, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in the Colfax Cemetery.
Visitation with the family was held Sunday at the funeral home following vigil services.
Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or the Sacred heart Catholic church will be accepted.
She died Friday at Skiff medical Center of cancer.
Survivors are her husband, Joe; six brothers, Dale Ward of Napa, Calif., Dean, Harold, Richard and Bill Ward, all of Newton, and Jerry Ward of Cleveland, Tenn.; a sister, Dorothy Harvey of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Herbold was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Society and Women of the Moose.
She was a former employee of the Maytag Co., had been a legal secretary for 12 years and employed in the Jasper County Clerk of court office for three years.
The daughter of Andrew M. and Bessie Elizabeth Balmer Ward, she was born Sept. 21, 1921 in Ladora and was a 1939 graduate of Newton Community High School.
She was married to Joe W. Herbold April 15, 1944 in Colfax.
