Mrs. Alice Starkweather Died Suddenly Sunday
Former Resident Of Colfax; Was Living With Daughter In Des Moines
Mrs. Alice Starkweather, 92, died suddenly Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Ware, in Des Moines. While she had been gradually failing in health, the end came suddenly and unexpectedly.
Mrs. Starkweather was born in Jasper county and knew the life of a pioneer and saw the advancement in transportation from the covered wagon to the airplane; her parents Mr. and Mrs. William Kintz, coming to this country from the east. Mrs. Starkweather resided in Colfax until six years ago when she went to Des Moines to be cared for by her daughter.
She was united in marriage to Desmond Starkweather and to this union three children were born, Blanche, now Mrs. Ben Ware of Des Moines, Dora, Mrs. S. T. Kline and Clara, Mrs. Tipton Broughton, the latter two having preceded their mother along with the husband in death. She was the last of her family, a twin sister preceding her in death a few years ago.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines, and burial was at the Kintz cemetery north of Mingo.
