John Franklin Cline was born in the state of Indiana, January 6, 1832. When a young man he removed with his parents to Jasper county, Iowa. The last fifteen years of his life he has lived in Dallas county, Iowa. When passing through Des Moines some days ago he was taken suddenly ill in the Rock Island depot while waiting for his train home. He was removed to the Methodist hospital where he was tenderly cared for until it was thought that he was well enough to return to his home. On February 27 he was taken suddenly ill again with heart failure and died.
The funeral services were held from the Methodist church at Valeria and were conducted by Rev. E. H. Fleisher of Colfax, Iowa and the interment was in the McKeever cemetery by the side of his wife who died three years ago. Four children are left to mourn his death.
