Colfax, Iowa – Helen Acton, 87, of Colfax, died Saturday, Oct. 17, at Des Moines General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the united Methodist Church in Colfax with the Rev. Jill Flyr officiating. Burial will be at McKeever Cemetery in Colfax.
Visitation will be held Tuesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax where family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials to the United Methodist Church or PEO Education Fund will be accepted.
The daughter of Ellis and Laura Scarbrough Shissler, she was born Nov. 6, 1910, in Colfax. She was a 1929 graduate of Colfax High School.
She married Carroll Keith Acton Oct. 7, 1934 in Colfax.
A lifelong resident of Colfax, she worked as a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist church in Colfax, Colfax Senior Citizens, United Methodist Women, Chapter BA of PEO and the Poinsettia Club.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Carole Leanne Price of Arvada, Colo. and Libby and Donald Hiatt of Mitchellville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a sister.
