Carroll Acton Dies Friday; Rites Tuesday
Colfax – Carroll Keith Acton, 71, of Colfax died Friday evening at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Colfax United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Jim Pemble, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Friends may call at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
Memorial contributions to the Colfax United Methodist Church will be accepted.
Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Survivors are his wife, Helen; two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Carole Leanne) Price of Arvada, Colo., and Mrs. Donald (Helen Elizabeth “Libby”) Hiatt of Mitchellville; six grandchildren; and a brother, Harold Acton of Seattle, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lowell.
Mr. Acton had been a clerk at the Colfax Post Office from 1950 until retiring in 1976 and had been a former employee of the Carlson’s Department Store.
He was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church and the Colfax American Legion.
The son of Arnold D. and Henrietta Kaldenberg Acton, he was born April 26, 1908 in Mingo and was a 1926 graduate of the Colfax Community High School.
He was married to Helen Shissler Oct. 7, 1934 in Colfax.
