Grace Tramel, 92, Longtime Jasper Resident, Dies
Ira – Mrs. Frank W. (Grace) Tramel, 92, a longtime resident of northwest Jasper County died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mildred Tramel, at Cresco.
Mrs. Tramel, ill for the past two years, had been a resident of Cresco since 1960.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Union Chapel Church near Ira.
Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery.
Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home at Baxter is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are a daughter, Mildred Tramel of Cresco, and a son, Howard of Anaheim, Calif.
She was preceded by her parents and three sisters.
The daughter of A. E. and Emily Jeffries, she was born July 26, 1872 in northwest Jasper County.
She attended rural schools in Jasper County and Highland Park College in Des Moines.
Mrs. Tramel taught school in northwest Jasper County until her marriage to Frank W. Tramel March 1, 1896 at her parents’ farm home.
After her marriage they farmed near Ira and after her husband’s death in 1948 resided with her daughter in Brooklyn, Rockwell City, Charles City and Cresco.
