Francis Rippey Services Friday
Ira – Funeral services for Francis J. Rippey, 90, a lifelong resident of the Ira community, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Ira Methodist church.
Burial will be in Union Chapel cemetery.
Boyd-Nickell funeral home at Baxter is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rippey died at his home in Ira Tuesday.
Mr. Rippey is survived by his wife, Lillie; a son, Gale, of Ira; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sue Parker of Mingo, and a step-son, Willard Dullard of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Rippey, who died in 1918 of wounds suffered in World War I.
Mr. Rippey was a member of the Ira Methodist church.
The son of William and Ann Rippey, he was born March 18, 1870 near Ira.
Born and raised in the Ira community, where he attended schools, after his marriage he farmed in the community until 1945 when he retired and moved to Ira.
He was married to Zella B. Miller January 29, 1896 in Newton. She died in 1911.
In 1916 he was married to Lillie Trussler Dullard.
