Death Claimed Mrs. Clara Zimmerman
Had Been In Failing Health For Several Months
Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Zimmerman, daughter of Henry and Mary Keesler were conducted at the Ira M.E. Church Thursday, Sept. 29th, with Rev. Carl Gray officiating.
Clara Keesler, daughter of Henry and Mary Keesler, was born in Indiana Sept. 28, 1858. She came with her parents to Iowa when a young girl. On Aug. 6, 1877, she was united in marriage to Wm. E. Zimmerman.
To this union seven children were born, Daisy, Lucy, Ollie, Fannie, Harry, Elmer and Maude.
During her life, Mrs. Zimmerman’s motto seemed to have been “others,” as she was always helping her friends and neighbors in times of need.
Nearly all her married life was spent in Jasper County.
She was a member of the Ira M.E. Church and a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society.
Since the death of Mr. Zimmerman in July, 1929, Mrs. Zimmerman has divided her time among her children. Her health began failing several months ago and on Tuesday, Sept. 27, she passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jay Hall at Bondurant at the age of 80 years and 25 days.
Left to mourn her departure are the following: Mrs. C. M. Edwards, Mrs. J. T. Edwards of Des Moines; Mrs. Charley Perin, Collins, Mrs. Jay Hall, Bondurant; Mrs. Lucy Willets, Ira and Elmer R., Ira; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Zimmerman and one son, Harry preceded her in death.

Music was furnished by Lela and Esther Gray, Leta Lowery and Alta Jones. They sand “Going Down the Valley,” “Gathering Home,” and “Saved by race.”
Pall bearers are Tom Dawson, Zenas Jones, Wilbur Lowry, Andrew Beard, Ray Hall, and Gale Rippey.
Those in charge of the flowers were Mrs. Jack Connor, Mrs. Denver Cross and Mrs. Frank Rippey.
Interment was in Union Chapel cemetery near Ira.
