Mrs. Walter O. Tramel Died In Des Moines
Mrs. Lillian Tramel, 69, for many years a resident of the Ira and Mingo vicinity, died Saturday at the Mercy hospital in Des Moines where she had been a patient since January 1st. She was treated for a heart complication following an attack which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Glen Ward in Ames.
The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Long, she was born in Clear Creek township and in March of 1903 was united in marriage to Walter O. Tramel. The couple operated a farm between Ira and Mingo. About 25 years ago Mrs. Tramel moved to Des Moines where she resided until the past fall when she went to Ames to live.
Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marie) Oglevie of Des Moines and Mrs. Glen (Gertrude) Ward of Ames, one son Russell of Des Moines, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and one brother, James Long of Baxter. Her husband, two children, her parents and seven brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Ira Christian church on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock. Interment was in the Union Chapel cemetery.

Mrs. Lillian Tramel, daughter of George and Phoebe Long was born March 12, 1883 in Clear Creek township and passed away Saturday, Jan. 17, 1953 at the age of 69 years, ten months and five days.
She was married to Walter O. Tramel in March, 1903. To this union were born five children. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marie) Oglevie of Des Moines, Mrs. Glen (Gertrude) Ward of Ames and one son, Russell of Des Moines, five grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and one brother, James Long of Baxter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son Blaine, infant daughter, her parents and seven brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Ira Christian Church.
A mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. James Lowry, Mrs. Doris Hunter and Robert Matthews, accompanied by Mrs. Coral Esch, sang “In the Garden” and “Sometime We’ll Understand”.
Pall bearers were Howard Tramel, Orvall Weston, Raymond Iske, Gale Rippey, Orlo Southern and Donald Weston.
Mrs. W. J. Lowry and Mrs. Orlo Southern were in charge of beautiful floral offerings.
Interment was at Union Chapel.
