Frank W. Tramel Died Tuesday At Skiff Hospital
Lifetime Resident Of Jasper County; Well Known Cattle Feeder and Farmer
Frank W. Tramel, 77, of near Ira, died Tuesday morning at the Skiff Memorial hospital in Newton. He had been in failing health for some time due to high blood pressure and entered the hospital for observation and treatment following a hemorrhage on Monday.
The son of J. J. and Hannah Crawford Tramel, he was born January 18, 1871 at the Tramel homestead near Union Chapel, which place had been owned first by his grandfather in 1852 and where he resided all his lifetime.
He was educated in the rural schools of the County and took his higher education at Highland Park College in Des Moines. He served as Township trustee in Clear Creek township and was an active member of the Christian Church at Ira. He was well known as a good farmer and extensive cattle feeder in his active life.
He is survived by his wife, and two children, the daughter Mildred Tramel serving as Home Economist in Poweshiek Township and son Howard J. Tramel, who is operating the Tramel farm.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday afternoon at Union Chapel with Rev. Henry Esch of Collins officiating. The Boyd Mortuary of Baxter will be in charge and interment will be in the Union Chapel cemetery.
