A terrible bereavement has befallen our friend, William Miller, of Greencastle, in the loss of his wife, who passed away about nine o’clock last Wednesday morning, having failed to rally from the surgical operation performed by Drs. Robb and Weston on Tuesday. Mrs. Miller was 40 years of age and leaves a little son to share with his father the irreparable loss.
Deceased was a native of Jasper county, a daughter of Hon. J. H. Smith, of Ira, a woman whose activity in good works and whose domestic virtues are known to all who came within the circle of her acquaintance.
The funeral was from the Union Chapel this afternoon at 1 o’clock and the interment was at the cemetery adjoining, where her mother is buried.
The news of this good woman’s death was a great shock to her friends, few of whom were aware that her condition was dangerous. The operation was advised by high surgical authority as the only chance to save her life.
