Mrs. Lee Schmidt, Former Resident Of Colfax, Dies
Colfax – Mrs. Lee E. (Genevieve Kathryn) Schmitt, 54, of Ames, a former longtime resident of Colfax, died Tuesday at the Northwest Hospital in Des Moines.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Colfax Christian Church.
The Rev. Anthony Pettrone, minister of the church, and the Rev. Walter Goughnour minister of the Prairie City Christian Church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.
The casket will be opened before the services but closed thereafter.
Walters Funeral Home at Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Willard (Marilyn) Henderson of Conifer, Colo., Mrs. Charles (Carol) Walker of Denver, Colo., and Mrs. James (Norma) Howser of El Cajon, Calif.; a son, Paul G. Mason of Alvin, Tex.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. LeRoy Haines of Norwalk, Calif. and Mrs. Frank Eckhoff of Hershey, Neb., and a brother, the Rev. Woodrow Leypoldt of Albion, Neb.
The daughter of George William and Marie B. Leypoldt she was born Dec. 5, 1912 at Hershey, Neb., and was a 1930 graduate of Hershey High School.
She was married to Paul Leland Mason May 30, 1930 at Hershey. Mr. Mason died Aug. 16, 1941.
She was married to Lee E. Schmitt Dec. 26, 1951 at Leon.
Mrs. Schmitt, a member of the Colfax Christian Church, was a resident of Colfax from 1947 until March 1966 when she moved to Ames.
