CARY – Dana Starr Petersen, 49, of Cary, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011.

She was born April 17, 1962, in Des Moines, Iowa.

She was principal at Marion Jordan Elementary School in Palatine since 2001 and had worked in education as a teacher or administrator since graduating from Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, in 1984.

She was the devoted wife of Tom for 25 years; mother of Emily and Carli; daughter of Richard and Nancy Starr of Indianola; sister of Dave (Karen) Starr of Wildwood, Mo.; and daughter-in-law of Tom and Jackie Petersen of Cary.

A memorial visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the memorial service at 4 p.m. Friday, July 1, at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St., Barrington. Private interment will be in Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery in Cary.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the District 15 Education Foundation in memory of Dana Petersen for the benefit of Marion Jordan Elementary School, 580 N. First Bank Drive, Palatine, IL 60067.
