PRAIRIE CITY — Leo Van Dusseldorp, 93, formerly of Prairie City, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Hospice of Pella Comfort House.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at First Reformed Church in Prairie City, where family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to the First Reformed Church or Hospice of Pella.

The son of Gysbert G. and Hilda (Visser) Van Dusseldorp, he was born Aug. 31, 1911, near Leighton. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1929. On Feb. 23, 1939, he married Bessie Jabaai in Prairie City. He was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City and farmed in the area all of his life. He moved with his family to Jasper County when he was 5 years old and lived here until he and his wife moved to Pella in 1997.

Mr. Van Dusseldorp is survived by three daughters, Elaine (Bert) Bandstra of Oskaloosa, Janice Swenson of Clive and Charlotte (Dave) McClellan of Prairie City; seven grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Gertrude and Ben Lourens of Altoona.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, a granddaughter and a son-in-law, Bill Swenson.
