Annie (Eilander) Thompson, 85, of Newton died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. A.B. Sudbrock of Newton Baptist Temple officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to the American Heart Association and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Henry and Henrietta (Sloterdyke) Eilander, she was born May 3, 1919, in rural Newton. She married Burnis Thompson and was a homemaker. She enjoyed music and traveling and was a member of Newton Baptist Temple Church.

Survivors include a brother-in-law, Fred Blake; two sisters-in-law, Sonja Johnson and Marjorie Holmes; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Henry Jr., William, Garrett "Jerry" and Berl Eilander; and three sisters, Tietje Eilander, Clarice Blake and an infant sister.
