Katherine M. "Kay" Stone, 85, of Newton died Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Park Centre Health Care Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Park Centre Good Samaritan Fund and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Hans and Emma (Buckman) Dosland, she was born July 16, 1919, in Calamus. She graduated from Calamus High School in 1936. On Dec. 13, 1938, she married Frank L. Stone in DeWitt and was a homemaker. She and her husband owned and operated Stone's Restaurant in DeWitt. She also was co-owner of Dosland Lumber in Calamus with her three brothers. She enjoyed reading and was a past member of the Lady Elks. She was a resident of Newton since 1946.

Survivors include a son, Marty (Chris) Stone of Ankeny; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and three brothers.
