COLFAX -- Lyle Ray Stier, 72, of Colfax, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005, at the VA Medical Center in Knoxville.

Private family services were held Monday at Greencastle Cemetery.

The son of Leorn L. and Marie Elizabeth (Purnell) Stier, he was born Dec. 31, 1932, in Marshall County. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service time, he worked in maintenance as a mechanic.

Survivors include his children, Loren, Jim, Irene, Ilene, Orville and Angela; his grandchildren; great-grandchildren; a brother, Arnold "Red"; and three sisters, Rosie Bissell, Wanda Bell and Mary Ward.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Orville.
