Agnes M. Sparks, 66, of Newton died Thursday, May 19, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Hospice of Jasper County or to the American Cancer Society — Breast Cancer Research and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Carroll and Nellie M. (Gabel) Kirk, she was born Aug. 18, 1938, in Evans. On Aug. 27, 1956, she married Glen L. Sparks in Oskaloosa. She was a homemaker, worked as a dispatcher for Newton Cab Company and ran the nursery at the United Presbyterian Church for four years. She enjoyed bowling, Tri-Chem, camping and fishing. She lived in Oskaloosa and Kellogg prior to moving to Newton in 1961.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Carroll (Missy) Sparks of Newton; two daughters, Roxanne Snook and Tammy (Scott) Duncan, all of Newton; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Willie (Pat) Kirk and Carroll "Smiley" Kirk, all of Oskaloosa; and three sisters, Helen Gregory of Colfax, Wilma (Paul) Wyatt of Oskaloosa and Gloria Hunt of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Nellie Green and Mary Alley; and a brother, Kenneth Kirk
