Ava "Chris" Snow, 82, of Newton died Monday, May 30, 2005, at Heritage Manor Care Center in Newton.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
No visitation is planned. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Jasper County or the American Cancer Society.

The daughter of Earl M. Snow and Leona E. Fosberg, she was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Pagosha Springs, Colo. She worked as a meat carver for the Newton Inn and Terrace Inn. She worked and lived in many states and enjoyed animals.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan "Marian" (Jim) Hershberger of Denver, Colo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three god-children, Crystal Wertz of Newton and Susie Schreckenbach and Howie Mosher, both of West Virginia; a brother, Earnest Snow of Kingman, Ariz.; and a sister, Doris Ann Meeks of Stamford, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Eldon J. Snow.
