O. S. Barker, 78, Dies Early Today
O. S. Barker, 78, native of Jasper county and farmer most of his life, died at 7:45 a.m. today in Skiff Memorial hospital of a heart condition. He had entered the hospital Monday evening.
Born Oct. 1, 1875, he was the son of James and Clementine Barker. He was born near Greencastle. Mr. Barker married Mary Bunyard in Des Moines Dec. 9, 1907.
Survivors include his wife, seven children, two brothers, a sister and 16 grandchildren.
The children are Guy C. Barker and Miss Gladys Barker, both of Newton; Mrs. Robert (Thelma) Rogers, Monroe; Denver T. Barker, Baxter; Walter W. Barker, Collins, Mrs. Harry (Faye) Plumb, Grimes; and Mrs. Earl (Flora) Harris, Muscatine.
The brothers are Charles of California and Alva of Georgia, and the sister is Mrs. Rose B. Hay, Grinnell.
Funeral rites are tentatively set for Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Toland Funeral Home.
Mr. Barker was a member of First Christian church.

Funeral Hour Is Set For O. S. Barker, 78
Funeral rites for O. S. Barker, 78, native of Jasper county who died Tuesday morning, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Toland Funeral Home. The Rev. A. K. Williams of First Methodist church will officiate, and burial will be in Greencastle cemetery.
Initially, services were tentatively set for 2:30 p.m. Friday, but the time was changed today to 1 p.m.
