Mrs. Anna Schultz Of Prairie City Dies at Age 82
Prairie City (Special) – Mrs. Anna Schultz, 82, resident of the Prairie City area for half a century, will be buried Wednesday, the day she would have observed her eighty-third birthday.
Born July 14, 1871, in the Netherlands, she came to the United States at the age of 16 with her parents who settled on a farm near Pella. She died Monday at her home in Prairie City after being in failing health for several years.
The deceased married William Schultz in 1890 at Pella, and after farming near there for several years the couple moved to a farm four miles southeast of Prairie City. Her husband died in 1932 and she moved into town in 1941.
Mrs. Schultz is survived by four sons, Henry of Grand Rapids, Mich., Gilbert and Ed of Prairie City, and William of Oskaloosa; three daughters, Mrs. Ben (Artie) Engbers, Kalamazoo, Mich., Mrs. Doyle (Jeanette) Cottrell, Des Moines, and Mrs. Herman (Tobena) Stewart, New York; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Elscott of Lynnville, and Mrs. Gertie Wisgerhof of Laurel.
Services will be held in the First Christian Reformed church of which she was a member. The Rev. William Vander Kief will conduct the rites and burial will be in Griffith cemetery south of Prairie City.
Walters Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
