Mrs. Guessford Dies at Age 82, Funeral Tuesday
Mrs. Margaret Guessford, 82, lifelong resident of Jasper county, died at her home near Newton early Sunday morning. She had been an invalid for many years
Final rites are set for Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Toland funeral home. The Rev. John R. Binkley will officiate and burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
Mrs. Guessford was born Sept. 24, 1870, to George and Mary Dooley in Jasper county and was educated in rural schools. She married George Guessford, a farmer, on Sept. 7, 1898, at Kellogg and the couple set up farming.
Survivors are one brother, John Dooley, who lives southeast of Newton; two granddaughters, Mrs. Charles Debbon, Nevada, Ia., and Mary Ann Ponder, Newton; two great-grandchildren, Wayne and Paul Debbon; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two children, Mary Florence and Orville; three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Guessford was a member of the First Christian church and The Daily News Three Quarter Century club.
