John Leonard Williams, 76, of Kellogg died Wednesday in Grinnell of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services for John Williams were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kellogg Christian Church, with the Rev. David Barnes, pastor of the church, officiating.

Burial was in Union Cemetery in Newton.

Born Nov. 3, 1903, in Kellogg, he was the son of Marion and Anna Loupee Williams. He was a Kellogg Community High School graduate.

He married Velma Paulson on May 29, 1926, in Newton.

He had been a tool and die maker at the Rock Island Arsenal prior to being employed at the Maytag Co. in the same position for 20 years.

Mr. Williams was a member of the Kellogg Christian Church, a 50-year member and master of the Meridian Lodge No. 280 and AM of Kellogg, York Rite and Scottish Rite Bodies; Des Moines Consistory and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two brothers, Roy and Max. Surviving him is his wife.

Memorial contributions to the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital or Burn Center will be accepted. Memorials may be left at the Wallace Funeral Home. ~ Newton Daily News, Newton, IA [April 1980]
