Agar, Wilma
Wilma Shaw Agar, 69, of 215 E. 5th St. N., a life long resident of Jasper County, died of cancer early Monday morning, Sept. 4th, Skiff medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, Pastor of the church, will conduct the survives. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral home after 8a.m. Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church scholarship fund, Jasper County, Historical society Building Fund or Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Ralph; a son, Ralph Wesley Agar Jr., of Omaha Neb.; two daughters Donna Joe (Mrs. Gary) Atwood of Kansas City, and Janice (Mrs. Loyd C.) Combs of Wichita Kan.; Seven grandchildren; two sisters; Odessa Pritchard and Dorothy Huggins, both of Des Moines; and two brothers, Martin Shaw of Des Moines, and Norman Shaw of Orland, Calif.
She was preceded by her parents, a grandson, two sisters, and a brother.

Mrs. Agar was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a long time Saturday school teacher, and youth workers, a member of the United Methodist women, Chat-a-bit club, birthday club, silver threads 4-H club, CWC club, and Newton’s women club. (Bible study department and garden and home department). Mrs. Agar, a former 4-H club leader and Committeewoman and campfire leader and Committeewoman, was a homemaker.

The daughter of Thomas O. and Anna Gettis Shaw, she was born Oct. 27, 1919 in Monroe. And was a 1937 graduate of Newton Community High school.

She was married to Ralph W. Agar April 13, 1941 in Newton.

Mrs. Agar had resided in Monroe and Colfax prior to moving to Newton with her family at the age of 8.
