OTLEY — Doug Rowland, 38, of Otley died of leukemia Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Monroe First Baptist Church. Burial will take place in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Monroe First Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Doug Rowland Memorial Fund

Doug Rowland was born Oct. 18, 1966, in Knoxville. He graduated from Knoxville High School in 1985. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. On Nov. 9, 1990, he married Kellie Jones. He worked at Vermeer, owned Rowland Construction and worked for Van Ryswyk Plumbing and Heating. He retired in September 2004 for health reasons.

Survivors include his wife, Kellie; two daughters, Kaila and Abigail; a son, Tanner; his mother and step-father Shirleen and Logan Light of Des Moines; father, Gail Rowland of Knoxville; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Michelle Rowland of Mason City and Larry and Tricia Rowland of Monroe; his grandmother, Myreeta Rowland of Knoxville; and his mother-in-law, Linda Jones of Des Moines.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Corky Evans and Lee Rowland.
