MONROE — Donald P. Romaine, 70, of Monroe died Monday, May 16, 2005, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. Burial will take place at Silent City Cemetery. Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 2 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Donald P. Romaine Memorial Fund.

The son of George and Anna (Burdick) Romaine, he was born Oct. 26, 1934, in Binghamton, N.Y. On Nov. 18, 1958, he married Beverly Preston in Pennsylvania. He moved with his family to Monroe in 1986 and worked at Stone Container. He retired in 1996. He enjoyed gardening and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Monroe; two daughters, Linelle (Jeff) Eldred of Newton and Laura Romaine of Altoona; a son, Kevin Romaine of Monroe; five grandchildren; three sisters, Trudy Haynes of Texas, Lillian Stephenson of Tennessee and Betty Romaine of New York; and two brothers, George and Gerald, both of New York.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Edith.
