Rose Kirkpatrick-Pence, 95, of Newton died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at her home in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Community Heights Alliance Education Center in Newton with the Rev. Syd McCrorey, associate pastor, and the Rev. Ed Bause, missionary in South Dakota, officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church, where the family will be available from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Memorials will be accepted in her name, to Hospice of Jasper County or to Community Heights Alliance Church.

The daughter of Charley L. and Mary Esther (Louthan) Davis, she was born April 19, 1909, in Grand River. She attended Decatur County country schools. On Dec. 27, 1926, she married Harold Kirkpatrick in Newton. She later married Euclid Pence on Aug. 10, 1985. She worked for Plant Nursery and Des Moines Nursery Farm. She was a member of Highland Assembly of God Church in Hardy, Ark., and attended Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton. She enjoyed arts and crafts, crosswords, reading, 4-H and traveling.

Mrs. Kirkpatrick-Pence lived in Grand River, Hardy, Ark., and Des Moines, but lived most of her life in Newton

Survivors include a sister, Pauline Daugherty of Newton; a brother, Roy Davis of West Des Moines; and a sister-in-law, Reba Lamb of Osceola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and 10 brothers and sisters.
