DES MOINES — Joe E. Partelow, 70, of Des Moines, formerly of Newton, died Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

The son of Leland and Mary Partelow, he was born in Northmoor, Mo., and lived in Newton prior to moving to Des Moines 30 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a Korean War veteran.

Mr. Partelow was a Native American and a member of the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska. He enjoyed woodworking and was a self-employed roofer. He also worked for Woods Roofing.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Partelow of Des Moines; children, Ron and Dottie Partelow of Newton, Judie and David Foster of Pittsburg, Calif, David and Lisa Partelow of Odessa, Kan., and Ed and Doris Anderson of Des Moines; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Josie and Clarence Hall, Doris and Curly Schofield and Grace Dalton, all of Kansas City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and special friends, John Woods and Oyster Partelow.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jerald Partelow and Tom Anderson; two grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl and Perry Partelow.
