James A. "Jim" Neal, 51, of Newton, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, in Newton.

Private family services are planned. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton.

A luncheon in memory of Neal will be held at the American Legion in Newton on Saturday, beginning at noon. Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Neal was born June 29, 1953 in Newton, the son of Albert D. "Skip" Henning and Ona L. Hoffmaster. He lived most of his life in Newton. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Survivors include a daughter, Ashley Neal of Kellogg; a son, John Neal of Clarinda; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Darci Henning of Newton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Frankie Beck of San Diego, Calif., and Kelly and Scott Penning and Roberta and Dave Oberhart, all of Newton; his mother of Newton; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Johnny Neal.
