PORTLAND, Ore. — Jessie Mosher, 88, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Newton, died Friday, May 20, 2005, in Portland, Ore.

Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Missy Brown of First United Methodist Church of Perry officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery. Carris Family Funeral Home of Perry is handling arrangements.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Contributions will be given to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home.

The daughter of Leo and Golda (Harriott) Braley, she was born Aug. 30, 1916 in Kirksville, Mo. She later moved with her family to Newton. On Jan. 11, 1936, she married Donald Mosher in Newton. She worked with Donald in the family business and was a homemaker. She enjoyed reading and knitting which she did for veterans and for residents of nursing homes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Donald Mosher Jr.; two daughters, Shirley Mosher and Barbara Jean Bowen; and one sister, Noreen Braley.

She is survived by her son Kenneth Mosher of Perry, one sister Florence "Kay" Procasco of Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
