PRAIRIE CITY — Helen Grace (Zachary) Moomaw, 93, of Prairie City died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Mitchell Village Care Center in Mitchellville.

Visitation will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Walters Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City, where the family will greet friends from 3 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Sunday school program at the Prairie City Christian Church.

The daughter of Hartwell and Nettie (Turner) Zachary, she was born May 31, 1911, at the family farm home northwest of Prairie City. On April 29, 1929, she was united in marriage to Melvin Loren Moomaw. Mrs. Moomaw was a lifelong resident of Prairie City and was an active member of the Prairie City Christian Church. She held the position of Sunday school superintendent for 28 years. She was a homemaker and also worked at Roberts Brothers Hardware for 21 years.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Loren and Mary Jane of Des Moines and Dale and Barbara of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Don Osborn and Joyce and Buck Walker, all of Prairie City; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; three brothers, Leland, Gerald and Raymond; a son-in-law, Lionel Wiggins.
