OTTUMWA – Funeral services for H.E. “Gene” Barnett, 68, father of Josie Carter of Newton, were held Friday, March 24, at the Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa.

Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Mr. Barnett, a lifelong resident of Ottumwa, died at his home.

Also surviving are his wife, two sons, two other daughters, a brother and a sister.

He was preceded in death by parents, his first wife, six brothers and four sisters.
